What Men Live By

Last night after working a 4 hour shift I went to visions where IHOP-Lansing was meeting. My friend Nathaniel spoke on a story about a man named Simon and his compasion for another in need. The story is heart breaking and I recommend reading it if you have time. There is true emphasis on ‘One may live without father or mother, but one cannot live without God.’”

What Men Live By
by Leo Tolstoy

In case you don't read it this story discusses 3 truths.
"What dwells in man. Love.

What is not given to man. It is not given to man to know his own needs.

What men live by. all men live not by care for themselves but by love."

“I knew before that God gave life to men and desires that they should live; now I understood more than that.
“I understood that God does not wish men to live apart, and therefore he does not reveal to them what each one needs for himself; but he wishes them to live united, and therefore reveals to each of them what is necessary for all.
“I have now understood that though it seems to men that they live by care for themselves, in truth it is love alone by which they live. He who has love, is in God, and God is in him, for God is love.”

I love you, and that's all I know.

I really hate Halloween but tonight my friend Erin is having a party and we're all supposed to dress up. I'm going as Queen Esther, even though the Jesus suggestion was tempting.

Last night I went to Visions and got to talk with Dan (The Director of IHOP-Lansing). I get to start coming back for the Sunday night worship team after my two week break. So that was good news. Mike (the Director of Visions) preached last night on random thoughts. But he talked a lot about altering ourselves for the better. I started thinking about how I get caught up in my ministry and how sometimes I get caught up in preparing/learning/working for next year I forgot that I should be pressing into the heart of God. Being in the presence of Jesus Christ is top priority. It's my desire that takes president over all else. It's about Him. Not me.

"I give you my heart. I give my soul, I live for you alone. Every breathe that I take. Every moment I'm awake. Lord have your way in me"

I am simply His hands. I need to continually remember that.

So on the way home from Visions I was listening to my Jars of Clay cd. It's their self titled album from 1995. I think everyone should own a copy. I've been getting really into it lately because the first song 'liquid' has a OneThing theme and some awesome drum parts. Then last night at Visions worship we sang track 3 'Love Song For A Savior' ironically. Anyway! I was on my way home and turned my cd player to the last song 'Blind'. The song ended and I was in a train of thought so didn't think of turning off my cd player or changing it to another song. Well apparently there is a secret track at the end of this particular Jars of Clay cd. It's called 'Four Seven'.

"We have this treasure
in earthen vesselsto show that this power
is from God, and not from us"

I love affirmation!!! That sort of thing builds my faith so much.

1 Timothy 4:9-10
9This is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance
10(and for this we labor and strive), that we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, and especially of those who believe.

I'm in love with the greatest man ever to walk the earth.
I've been comparing and contrasting the mentalities of my lifestyle right now as in comparison to the distraction free atmospheres of conferences such as STI, Lael, Convention, OneThing, and Winter Retreat etc.

Two phrases summarize my thoughts.

1. Scripture leads us to believe that Jesus did not even move until He heard the Father's voice. He knew that purpose and direction comes from God. I should live like Jesus with the same mentality.

Proverbs 16:3 - Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.

Jeremiah 29:11- For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

God is the director of my life. All of this is for Him. It's increasing my wisdom and my ministry. The question is am I leaving enough time to be pressing into the heart of his son?

2. If the devil can't make you sin, he'll make you busy.
Time Management!!! It's so difficult.

Currently I am juggling:
At least and hour of alone time with Jesus
Practicing Flute, Piano, Voice
Working through theory books
School
Work
Worship Band at Church
Sunday School Preparation
Teaching Sunday School Class
Worship Team at IHOP-Lansing
Visions Night Club
Homework
Scholarship research
Saving Money for FMA
Planning December trip to OneThing!!!

Please pray for me!!!
During a conference or when I get a chance to get away from my hectic schedule I always encounter Jesus in a drastic way. But I come home to my schedule and get caught up in my ministry. Drawing close to Jesus is my top priority.

Abortion is icky.

When I was 10 years old my mom became pregnant unexpectedly and I remember it seemed strange because I saw my parents as being really old and done with having babies. Later during the pregnancy, we were told that the baby would have multiple complications and the doctors recommended multiple times to my parents that the pregnancy should be terminated. That experience changed the way I view abortion in understanding the issues.

My parents are both strong Christians and refused to abort the baby. At one point they had to write out their desires to carry out the pregnancy full term and placed it in my Mom's medical files.

The persistence the physicians placed upon my parents to have an abortion makes me to this day physically ill. The baby was born a girl and named Esther Ann Sincox. She lived almost four weeks and then passed away due to complications with her brain stem. I am thankful I was able to have the opportunity to meet and love my baby sister. I am by all means against abortion. It is murder.

The Bible tells us in Luke 1:36-41 that “the babe” leaped in Elizabeth's womb. Not a fetus, an actual baby. This same reference is used about baby Jesus after being born in Luke 2:12-16. This makes it clear that in God's eyes both an unborn and born baby are living beings.

Jeremiah 1:5 says “Before I formed thee in the bell I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.”

According to the Wikipedia Encyclopedia there's approximately 46 million abortions per year worldwide. That's approximately 126,000 abortions in one day. 40+ million abortions since 1973 have occurred in the United States alone making an estimated 4,000 abortions daily.

Not only is abortion a legal justification for murder it is a horrendous way to die. There are many different types of abortion. Women can take or inject a substance that can stop the implantation process or block progesterone. Then take orally or insert a pill to cause the uterus to contract and empty thereby ending the pregnancy. There is also the option of surgical abortions either by suction, dilation, or curettage with forceps in a clinic, medical office or hospital. Also there is the options of induction abortion or hysterotomy. These options vary based upon the trimester of the unborn child. Surgical abortions are literally like if you were to be in a cage and have your arms and legs ripped off.

Currently abortion is legal in the United States. I understand the reasoning for this. In America's past many women performed unsafe abortions thereby endangering themselves. I however do not think this is justification for the thousands of murders that occur daily in our nation.

There are millions of different scenarios such as a woman being raped then being pregnant. I've heard this argument a countless number of times. However in the United States only an estimated 2.1% of abortions occur due to rape, or incest. While 91.8% of abortions are because the baby does not come as convenience to the parents due to being to young, wanting to postpone childbearing, wanting no more children, cannot afford a baby, or having a relationship problem.

I believe that it is time for the people in our nation to take responsibility for our actions. When you have sex, there is a potential of becoming pregnant. This is in no way the fault of the baby created. Yet it is murdered with no disregard.

There's multiple ways to prevent an abortion. If you're going to have sex, practice safe sex, there's multiple contraceptives available. Sex outside of marriage is wrong in itself. Sex should be saved for the person God designed for you to share your life with. If a person is blessed with the opportunity to have a child and then chooses to have an abortion. They're not only killing a chance for life and the opportunity be blessed by God in countless numbers. That mother is murdering and refusing to take responsibility for something she created. It's taking a life because of inconvenience.

Going through Esther's death was one of the hardest things I've ever had to go through. Getting close to a sibling then losing them. But the one thing I can say that many woman who have had an abortion cannot is that I have no regrets. The baby lived. She was loved and cared for. When she died she was grieved upon. Buried as if she had lived a full blessed life. I would never trade the time we were given together. The pain from losing her was hard to endure, but I don't regret getting to know her. She was given life and lived as well as anyone could have. Now she is with Jesus and I will see her again someday. Until then I make sure I live my life for God hoping she's putting in a good word for me up there. :-p

I've noticed that everyone who is for abortion has already been born

OneThing!!!

OneThing was AMAZING!!!

Friday - We left Michigan about 1:30 pm. I got some of my Sunday School class out of High School early so they were happy about that. We got to the Hotel at about 5:30 pm. Then got all the food and luggage into our two rooms. The girls were Kristina, Sunnie, Spring and I. Then Boys were Joe, Adam, Will and Pastor Dave (aka. My Dad). We went to World View Community Church at about 6:30pm. The church itself was awesome! The drive way was really long and then when you pulled up to the actual building it was really big and had woods surrounding it. All the trees changing colors. We got inside and front row seats on the left hand side. Service started at 7pm. Merchant Band who is pretty much amazing led worship. The singer has an amazing voice and I remember last summer seeing more of Jesus in him than in anyone else I had ever met before. Dwayne Roberts was an awesome speaker as well. He knows the word and says some things dead on to what I need to hear. Service went until about 10:00pm then then our group went to McDonalds. Then back to the Hotel to sleep.

Saturday - Waking up at 7:30am to take a shower after staying up so late was aweful. It was 2-2:30 before any of us had gone to sleep. The girls and I stayed up talking about the worship, boys back home and life. Jesus is awesome for giving me these girls. I love them so much. I got in the shower, got dressed, woke the girls up. Found out the boys weren't up yet with 15 minutes before we needed to go. Woke them up. Left for the church/conference center. Worship in the morning was led by Merchant Band again. They played "I can't wait" live and that was awesome. Then Becky Tirabassi spoke. She was awesome! The youth really enjoyed her, as did I. My Dad bought us all a copy of her book "The Burning Heart Contract." Everyone then went out to lunch. Sunnie and I decided to stay at the church because we were fasting and didn't feel like going and watching everyone else eat food. We went to the FSM information meeting for fun. We bugged Dwayne with questions about FMA since I'm going there next year. Then walked around the church. Oh man! This is why I love being a youth leader/Sunday School teacher. I got to talk to Sunnie about a ton of stuff. Like about Islam. And Judaism. There was this gorgeous river back along some paths in the woods that surrounded the church. It was beautiful because the trees were all changing color and the river was full of leaves. Sunnie and I talked for a couple hours. It was awesome. The rest of the youth got back to the church with our water bottles and we hung out looked at t-shirts until the afternoon worship. Afternoon worship was led by Justin Rizzo. I love some of the songs we sang. Good times. Then we went off to Seminars. I went to Shawn Blanc's he talked about 5 things to do to lead to a perfect life. None of us are perfect but these things were really good. Especially when he spoke on managing time. Ephesians 5:15-16, and Psalm 90:12. Managing time hit so close to home with me. Ever since STI I've been on fire for God making him a daily part of my life. I am constantly watching the prayer room webstream. I have to wake up early for them because I have school and work through out the day. Sometimes I just want to sleep in. I'll stay up late working on a paper for school then go to sleep. Waking the next morning to get some alone time in the prayer room is killer. But good. Anyway! Shawn was very good. I met him too, which was nice because I occasionally read his blog. After the seminars we all got back together (everyone else in our group went to Josh Hawkins' End Times Seminar) then went to the Hotel for a bit. People ate, and we chillaxed for awhile. Then went back to the church for the last session. Justin Rizzo led worship. Joe, Adam and I dance in the front. Dwayne spoke about Matthew 6,7,8. It was pretty awesome. I love those chapters. We went back to the Hotel after seeing some people one last time... :-/ We had a devotion that night talked about the Worship and favorite parts of the conference. Went to sleep.

Sunday - I had to be the grouchy Sunday School teacher because my girls wanted to play Sims and watch The Discovery Channel rather than pack and leave. We didn't end up going to church that morning. I really wanted to but it was nice to get home. I just relaxed the rest of Sunday night.

Then today I worked 7 hours and talked to Alex a bit. Now I just need to go write my paper on Abortion. I'll post that tomorrow.
